Sometimes the best trips happen without a plan. I set out on a drive with no destination in mind, crossed into Pennsylvania, and eventually came across a striking memorial structure along the road. Its bold design and quiet setting caught my attention immediately, so I pulled over and spent some time exploring with my cameras.

For this outing, I used my Canon R6 with the RF 24–105mm f/4 L lens and the Insta360 One X3. The Canon gave me sharp, detailed images that captured the lines and textures of the memorial, while the Insta360 allowed me to create immersive perspectives that made the space feel larger than life.

The memorial features tall stone pillars, engraved names, statues, and symbolic sculptures. Walking through the site, I found myself slowing down, taking in both the artistry and the weight of the history it represents. The circular architecture frames the sky beautifully, creating opportunities for wide shots and creative compositions.

I also put together a video from this visit, which you can check out here: Watch on YouTube.

Exploring unexpected places like this is why I love traveling with my camera. Even a random stop can turn into a chance to create, reflect, and capture something memorable.
